Alphabet Scoop is a charming community run ice cream store. It’s a non profit that is meant for job training for local teenagers. Since the shop is not focused on the financial bottom line, it seems they use great ingredients and offer generous servings that more commercial places don’t.

As a bonus, you get to support a great community initiative for job training. The workers are friendly and, perhaps because it is not a typical business, the store feels more inviting.

It is a great place to go for a date, grab ice cream or a shake with friends, or just stop by to get a pint for home later with a feel good twist. Be mindful that Alphabet city, where it is located can be unsafe at night.
