As the saying goes, “you can’t judge a book by its cover.” This couldn’t be more true for Anixi, a vegan restaurant located in Chelsea, New York.
From the outside, it looks like a small and unassuming spot, but once you step through the doors you’ll find an exceptional restaurant that serves up some of the best vegan food in the city.
The space is unassuming from the outside in a neighborhood, if we’re being transparent, that you should be mindful of walking around at night. Past the plush bar and small tables at front, which also has a few recessed dining areas, you will enter a grand space with vaulted ceilings. Similar to the venue, Anixi serves vegan food that superficially belies just how superb it is.
The mezzes and bread are delicious and all entrees were delicious. Try the steak if they have it when you go as your humble diner heard great things about it, but the restaurant was out of stock. Anixi is not cheap considering it serves only vegetables, but it is much less than similar restaurants so this is a good place to go with friends for a nice night out or on a date.
