Started by nightlife impresarios with an initial location next to hotspot Avenue in the meatpacking district, Artichoke Basille’s filled a clear need. Tasty and filling pizza with a variety of toppings.

The single store has grown into multiple locations and it is safe to assume that the quality is similar across them though some have formal seating while others do not. The Time Square location has standing tables and little else. There is a wait to order and a hustle to the operation with deliveries flying out the store regularly.

The pizza is not cheap; a slice may cost $7 or $8. They are though substantive. Personal favorites include the eponymous artichoke slice and the vodka sicilian. One quick word of caution; there is a large sauce + topping to crust ratio, which means piping hot slices often drip and cheese may slide. Let your slices cool down enough to be stable.

We recommend ordering in advance online if you’re going during a busy time and prepare to spend more than a typical pizza store as well as allot time for a post prandial nap.
