If you are willing to venture deep into Brooklyn, try David’s. Located in Gravesend, this casual Israeli restaurant with some Syrian and other middle eastern specialties has exceptional food. It is not cheap, but the dishes are executed so well.
The schnitzel, chicken wings, skirt steak, and beef ribs were among the best your humble correspondent has eaten. The falafel and cigars were superb. Ironically, the hummus, tahina, babaganoush and turkish salad were all good, but not standouts. The kibbeh and kofta kaba were excellent.
The service at David’s is pleasant, although if you go during off-hours, it can be slow as it is a bit understaffed, with an elderly gentleman trying to help the friendly older Israeli waitress. The atmosphere is very casual and there are always lots of families dining here.
