If you’re by the beach (the famous upside down Ben Gurion statue is a stone’s throw away) or simply walking down Bograshov, a popular street that cuts through a lovely part of Tel Aviv with Lev Hair and Old North nearby, Falafel Gabay is worth visiting.
There is outdoor seating under an awning and a friendly staff serving kosher middle eastern food. The soups are tasty (ask for the daily special) and the kebab and shawarma are good. The real star, however, is the Shabbat special also known as Shnitzel in Challah.
Falafel Gabay’s is spicy and has a generous amount of eggplant. If you, like your friendly writer likes it so much you finish it in a sitting, find a nearby bench to take a casual post prandial nap.
The food is good overall and the prices are reasonable. This is a place to try if you are in the area though in Tel Aviv, you don’t need to travel far for excellent kebab or shawarma.
