For a serious cocktail drinker or the person looking for a discreet and elegant cocktail lounge, head to the back of the Iroquois hotel in midtown. Nestled in the back of the lobby behind a velvet curtain, Lantern’s keep is a dimly lit lounge with a number of tables and a few booths for visitors.
The small bar in the corner is manned by serious mixologists; the pseudo speakeasy was founded by former bartenders at the well known Raines Law Room. They take their drinks seriously and so should you – this is a place for cocktails with craftsmanship.
Drinks are on the expensive side, which jives with the elegant vibe. There are also small bites to accompany cocktails. This is a great date spot, but be prepared to wait a little if you go during a busy hour.
