South Beach is full of over priced, ostentatious restaurants. La Leggenda could not be further from that, featuring delicious traditional Italian food in a low key setting. Nestled off a main thoroughfare, the restaurant is small so you may have to wait for a table. The staff is friendly and happy to take your order, which you may decide to turn into a to go one.
This could be a cute date spot, but it is also a really great place to grab a bite with friends or family. The food is excellent. The margarita special and the melanzane appetizer were highlights. Much of South Florida cuisine feels like a fusion of ethnicities, sometimes producing great results. La Leggenda feels more authentic, true to its Italian roots. Check it out if you’re in South Beach and want to eat well at a good price without the hoopla of Miami.
