The buzz about Luccia Pizza’s new location is substantial. The original location in Brooklyn has an almost cult like following so when it opened in Manhattan recently yours truly had to try it.

Travel down to Canal Street at the edge of TriBeca and the end of SoHo after a drink nearby or for a quick lunch bite.

The slices are small, average priced, and quite good. Would you give up your firstborn for one of them, including the vodka or creamed spinach or mushroom (funghi)? No you shouldn’t because there are better places to get value for your bloodline – including Nolita Pizza, Scarr’s, and Grand Street that are not too far away. If we’re being honest, Ltd down the street is probably even better.

Luccia is worth eating at and you may want to stop by to try it even if you’re not in the area. It’s a takeout joint with a couple of small counters indoors to stand at while you eat. Enjoy a good slice, but temper your expectations.
