Jean-Georges restaurant Perry St has been an excellent staple of the West Village for a number of years. The chef Cedric Vongerichten oversees the kitchen, which turns out exquisite continental dishes though with influences from near and far.
Tucked away by the West Side Highway in an elegant space, Perry St offers a discreet setting to enjoy a sophisticated meal. While it is not cheap, it is not punishingly expensive considering the execution and location.
You will be able to get a reservation at a reasonable hour without booking long in advance and likely see a celebrity or two dining nearby. The restaurant is large and has plenty of privacy for all diners, many of whom are couples on dates.
The service is top notch and the dishes are creative and tasty. Try this for a special occasion and, if you have the time, have a drink nearby at Entwine or Orient Express afterwards.
