Polpette 71

Upper West Side, New York

Polpette nyc

Polpette, or meatballs, is owned by the eponymous Nikki meatballs, who you will recognize as the tan, fit gentleman with gray hair usually by the front with a quick smile. While there was another location 10 blocks north that closed, the one on 71st endures.

There is a charming backyard with plant covered lattices in the back, but the front also offers a pleasant, cozy area to eat. The food is very good and, in particular, the papardelle with mushrooms, ravioli with spinach and vodka sauce. This is a classic red sauce joint and intended for hearty eaters.

We recommend going here with family or friends, bringing a good appetite and knowing that while not cheap, it won’t break the bank.
