Pongal

PONGAL NYC

Pongal is a vegetarian (and kosher!) restaurant in the aptly named Curry Hill, which is effectively a couple of blocks in Murray Hill with clusters of Indian restaurants.

When we visited, they had just moved across the street and service was a bit disorganized. The new space is well appointed so if you want to bring a date as opposed to friends, you will not have any regrets.

Among the dishes we ordered were the Bhajia platter, Channa Saag, and the mixed vegetable biryani. All the dishes we ordered were well executed and the service was pleasant if a bit slow.

The meal was not cheap, but did not break the bank.

If you are kosher or you like vegetarian only restaurants, Pongal is a good addition to your restaurant rotation.
