Located in the Garment District, Rag Trader is a good restaurant that is ideal for a date. The prices are reasonable, the food is solid, and the ambiance is well suited to a casual get together, be it a date or a light business dinner. The restaurant has 2 floors, with the top featuring the shell of a car to sit in and eat.
The food is good – the cauliflower steak made its way on the menu ahead of many other restaurants and is quite good. The tuna tartare and margherita pizza are generic, but tasty. This is not a culinary experience, but a pleasant dining experience.
If you don’t have plans for after dinner, ask to be put on the waitlist for BoPeep, the speakeasy piano bar in the basement. Rag Trader won’t knock your socks off, but in a city with so much overpriced and inaccessible, it’s a great option for a nice date.
