Israeli restaurants have been popping up all over Manhattan and Brooklyn, but Tamam is the rare one on the Upper East Side. Locals should be grateful the owner chose to come! The place is vegan and it serves only a few things, all of which are excellent.
The falafel might be the best in the city and eggplant is exceptional. Get a bowl and let the staff know if you prefer spicy or not. There are counters inside and a few table tops and tables outsides to stand (or sit) and eat, but this is a no frills takeout spot on Lex and 77th. It is a busy location and you should go there to enjoy delicious food at a reasonable price.
