The sushi at Yasaka is generally good. The fish is fresh and the rolls are well-prepared.
Yasaka is incredibly busy because it is reasonably priced, service is very efficient and it is a convenient location right off the 1,2,3 stop at 72nd. Insiders appreciate that it is the same owner as Kaito, an Omakase only sushi bar across the street.
Sushi Yasaka does have more expensive toro and other fish, but it’s popular because it’s affordable in a food category (sushi) that often isn’t. It’s a great spot for a date or meeting friends for sushi without breaking the bank.
Service is incredibly efficient and delivery is remarkably fast. The restaurant is perpetually crowded and you might very well bump into someone you know if you’re a local. Prepare to wait if you come during a busy hour, but know that the line moves. I suggest ordering takeout if you are in a true rush.
