Zizi recently opened a small location on the Upper West Side, but this review will be of the original, Chelsea location.

The restaurant and bar is crowded and for good reason. It has excellent drinks, attentive staff, and great food.

You should make a reservation and, unfortunately, expect to wait as table turnover is slower than one would hope. Yet, the owner is smart enough to ease the holdover with a complimentary drink at the bar.

Once you sit down, try the smalls, the fattoush salad, the salmon skewers, and the lentil arais.

The space feels a bit tight because the back, where we sat, is on a platform and the ceiling while pretty pressed metal is not especially high.

Zizi is a fun and tasty place to eat with a friend or, if you are comfortable speaking a bit louder, a date as well. Tables are close together, but the food is worth it.
